Companies can establish an international presence by using the TOEIC® test as a tool for recruitment, job placement and training.
As a company that is striving to build or strengthen its presence in the international market, you need employees who are internationally mobile and who can communicate with your clients and vendors anywhere in the world. Effective communication in English is essential to succeed in the global marketplace. Thus, improving the language proficiency of employees who are non-native speakers of English can enhance productivity and reduce costs. And this is where the TOEIC® test can help.
The TOEIC® test is accepted internationally as a standard measurement of English language proficiency. It is used by companies - small businesses as well as large multinationals - in various sectors.
You can use the TOEIC® test for:
- Recruitment: Measure the language competencies of candidates, by requesting for their TOEIC® scores.
- Promotion: Certify individuals for job promotions, by setting minimum TOEIC® score requirements for specific job profiles, depending on the level of English required.
- Placing employees on overseas assignments: Evaluate whether an employee will be able to work effectively if posted in an English speaking location.
- Technical or professional training: Determine whether employees have an adequate level of English to understand and participate in training programmes conducted in English.
- Evaluation: Evaluate whether employees who undergo English language training are making progress, by administering the TOEIC® test at specified intervals.
- Determining the effectiveness of English language learning programmes: Use the TOEIC® test as an independent instrument to evaluate course effectiveness, by administering the test before and after the language course and measuring progress.
- Setting a common standard of measurement: Implement one common standard of measurement throughout different corporate locations.
You can have your employees take the TOEIC® test in one of 2 ways: either on your own premises, or at ETS authorised test centres.

ETS Europe can arrange to provide companies with a score roster at the end of each testing session. This is not for use by individual test takers; rather it provides an indication of the overall performance levels at a particular test session. The roster includes: - Individual scores (listening comprehension, reading comprehension, total scores)
- Scores from the most recent testing session (average score, frequency distribution, range of scores)
- Scores obtained in all testing sessions (average score, frequency distribution, range of scores)
- Scores within the industry with which the client is affiliated
- Scores within the country with which the client is affiliated
